ART- What is it?

For me, it is a readily available form of amusement. A little like doing a cryptic crossword puzzle -  find an idea and than try to fit it into an art form. Sometimes the answer comes easily or I might have to work hard at it and even then the answer can evade me completely. It is a good form of mental stimulation.

Art came to me unexpectedly by way of a trip to Tuscany , with a small group of Wellington artists who needed another seat filled in their van. After being forcibly made to participate with watercolour paint on their  en pleine aire  painting efforts, it came as a pleasant surprise to find that this activity actually added a huge dimension to my enjoyement of travel by noticing more intensely  the colours shapes and forms around. I was hooked!

A decade later, with many lessons and paintings under my belt I find that The Tauranga Society of Artists Tuesday night programme keeps me active in art. With many workshops, education, speakers and challenges. The like minded  friends and exhibitions are a bonus.

Art has become greater than a hobby, more a lifestyle
