Susan Watson

Susan has been painting since the early 90's.  She was invited by a friend to join an art group and was "hooked."  She has not had formal art training but has been fortunate to have participated in some excellent workshops by notable artists.

Susan joined the Art Society in 1992 and has learned so much from other members and enjoyed the fellowship of other artists.  She has been a long-time supporter of the society life drawing group, ran the video library for many years, served on the committee and been vice-president.

Life, living and people in landscapes are really what make Susan tick, be it experiences from travels overseas or in New Zealand , she always finds plenty of inspiration. She particularly loves to work in soft pastel when painting still life, portrait or life, but enjoys oil or acrylic when painting seascapes and landscapes.

She has won many awards in the society and the Delme Brake Award at the Waihi Summer Festival. She participates in Art Society exhibitions and also has exhibited in Auckland and Wellington .  Susan has paintings hanging in the Tauranga City Council chambers, in homes in N.Z. and a number of countries overseas.
