TAURANGA SOCIETY OF ARTISTS INC.
Drawing, painting sewing and music have been my hobbies as long as I can remember. After the death of my husband I was encouraged to join the Papamoa Art Group with Bev Oliver. Later I joined the Tauranga Society of Artists and attended a Peter Stevenson Workshop on using Acrylics and today this is my primary medium. I am a realist, and have lived at Mount Maunganui 45 years so love to paint the coast, the Pohutukawas and all nature. I have won several awards in and outside The Tauranga Society of Artists, the Dale Mitchell Cup for Mixed Media on three occasions. I sell well from a local gallery and have had many commissions for mostly local Tauranga and Mt Maunganui subjects. This year I have been Honoured to receive a Life Membership of the Society. Recently I was delighted to win a very special trip to see the Rita Angus Life and Vision Exhibition in the Auckland Art Gallery. This takes place on September 7th and I am looking forward to this and to be able to share my memories of it with my fellow Artists. |
