Fay Thomson

 

Fay began painting in the 1990's after attending an oil painting workshop with NZ artist, John Speedy. She has subsequently attended workshops with artists whose work she admires including Susan Harrison-Tustain, Arleta Pech (USA), Tim Wilson, Ted Sherwin and Ben Ho.

She enjoys painting a wide variety of subjects in both watercolours and oils and is a member of the Tauranga Society of Artists where she is presently Assistant Secretary, the Mairangi Arts Centre in Auckland and the Academy of Fine Arts in Wellington .

Her painting of Doubtful Sound was selected for the inaugural Miles Award exhibition where it was exhibited in December/January 2011 at the Tauranga Art Gallery and her painting “The Little Ballerina” won the figure study section at the Tauranga Society of Artists mid year competitions in 2011. She also won the Sam McGredy Trophy for Rose Painting at Mairangi Bay Arts Centre in 2007.

Fay exhibits and sells her work in both Tauranga and Auckland . She has participated twice in the Tauranga Garden & Artfest, and presently has some of her paintings on display at Waipuna Hospice at Te Puna.
